We will start off this blog by delving into the discrepancy between searching for local information and searching for Internet information.
- For local information file managers (Finder in Mac and Explorer for Windows) have become the dominant method for navigating and organizing personal information (although not for photos, which are a different sub-area of data management)
- For Internet information Google, bookmarks and tabs in browsers are the tools most people use.
In the future, software that can combine both areas is likely to be very important. Currently we are doing research into how blogging information using the ScribeFire Extension to the Firefox browser can help manage personal information and support research. We will post the results of this research in this post.
